Our statement on the steps taken to identify, prevent and address modern slavery and human trafficking risk across our own operations and supply chain, in line with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018.
This statement is published on behalf of SYNE and its group entities, including SYNE Australia Pty Limited, SYNE Limited (England and Wales), SYNE Inc. (United States), SYNE Inc. (Canada), SYNE India Private Limited, SYNE Ratings Private Limited (India) and SYNE Limited (New Zealand). It sets out the steps we have taken during the reporting period to assess and address the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking occurring in our own business and supply chains.
SYNE operates six registered offices - Australia (global headquarters), Canada, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States - and supplies software and advisory services to customers across more than 140 countries. Our direct supply chain is relatively limited in scope, consisting primarily of cloud infrastructure providers, professional services firms, office facilities and independent data and monitoring partners who supply satellite, registry and climate-asset data to the platform.
We recognise that SYNE Carbon's project delivery work - spanning water, waste, energy and direct carbon sequestration projects delivered through regional implementation partners - introduces a different and generally higher-risk supply chain profile than our core software operations, given the geographies and sectors involved. This statement addresses both.
SYNE does not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any form, in any part of our own operations or in the operations of any organisation we do business with. We expect the same standard from every supplier, implementation partner and data partner we work with, and we treat this expectation as a condition of doing business with us, not an aspiration.
Our approach is governed through internal policies covering supplier onboarding, procurement and whistleblowing, overseen by our Business Operations leadership and, where relevant, our Board of Directors. Regional entities - including SYNE Ratings' independently governed operations in India and the UK - maintain oversight appropriate to their own jurisdiction and regulatory obligations.
We assess modern slavery risk across our supply chain based on sector, geography and the nature of the work involved. Cloud infrastructure and professional services suppliers are generally assessed as lower risk. SYNE Carbon's project delivery partners - particularly those engaged in on-the-ground implementation work such as agricultural, forestry or industrial decarbonisation projects - receive enhanced due diligence, including verification of local labour practices before a partner is onboarded to our network.
SYNE Trust gives our customers supply-chain traceability and compliance verification tools - and we hold ourselves to the same standard we sell. Where practical, we apply the same verification discipline to our own implementation partner network that SYNE Trust applies to a customer's supplier base: checking claims against underlying records rather than accepting a self-declared attestation at face value.
Relevant staff involved in procurement, partner onboarding and SYNE Carbon project delivery receive training on recognising the indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking, and on our internal process for raising a concern.
We review the effectiveness of the steps described in this statement annually, including the outcomes of partner due diligence, any concerns raised through our reporting channels, and whether our policies remain appropriate as our supply chain evolves - particularly as SYNE Carbon's project network expands into new regions.

We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
This statement was reviewed and approved by SYNE's Board of Directors, and is published in accordance with our obligations under the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018. It will be reviewed and updated at least annually.
