At SYNE, we try to be clear about how we collect and use data related to you. This Cookie Policy applies to any SYNE product or service that links to or incorporates it by reference, and explains how we use cookies and similar technologies - such as local storage - (together, "cookies") as part of the Services described in our Privacy Policy.
A cookie is a small file placed on your device that enables SYNE features and functionality. Any browser visiting our sites or platform may receive cookies from us, or from third parties such as our data partners, integration providers or service providers.
We use two general types. Persistent cookies remain after your current session ends and are used for purposes such as recognising you as a returning user, so you don't need to sign in again each time you return to the platform. Session cookies last only as long as your current visit or browser session, and are cleared once you close your browser.
We use cookies to recognise you when you visit the Services. If you're signed in, cookies help us show the right account, permissions and data for your organisation, and keep your session secure while you work.
We also use cookies to: make your interactions with the Services faster and more secure; detect and prevent malicious activity or violations of our Terms of Use; remember your preferences, such as display settings or a dashboard configuration; and understand how the Services are used so we can improve them, including how different products, features and reports perform for different customers and regions.
Where cookies are used to generate aggregated usage analytics, we may share that aggregated information with the relevant customer as part of the Services (for example, showing an administrator how their organisation's users engage with a report) - we do not use cookies to build public advertising profiles or track you across unrelated third-party sites for marketing purposes.
Strictly necessary. Required for the Services to function - for example, keeping you signed in, maintaining session security, and enabling core navigation. These cannot be switched off, as the Services will not work correctly without them.
Functional. Remember choices you've made, such as language, region, or dashboard layout, so your experience doesn't reset every time you return.
Performance & analytics. Help us understand how the Services are used in aggregate - for example, which reports are generated most often, or where users encounter errors - so we can prioritise improvements.
Third-party integration. Used where you've connected a third-party tool through the Developer Hub or a data partner integration, so that the connected service functions correctly alongside SYNE.
Where our Services are embedded within a customer's own product - for example, a supplier-facing view within SYNE Trust, or a borrower-facing view within Green Finance - the customer operating that product may also place their own cookies, subject to their own policies. Similarly, where you connect a third-party integration through our Developer Hub, that provider's own cookies may apply to your interaction with their service. We are not responsible for the cookie practices of independent third parties; please review their own policies.
Most browsers let you view, delete or block cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Services from working correctly, including signing in. Where functional or analytics cookies are not required for the Services to operate, you can generally decline them without losing core functionality.
If your organisation is located in the Designated Countries (the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland), we provide additional cookie consent controls in accordance with local law. You can review or update your preferences at any time via the Cookie Settings link in our website footer.
